Baru saja diumumkan 100 top webware atau aplikasi web terbaik tahun 2008.
Secara pribadi aku senang karena jawara-jawaranya adalah aplikasi web yang selama ini juga kupakai. Jarar Siahaan adalah maniak agama Firefox [anti-IE], Google [chat tidak lagi pakai Yahoo, tapi GTalk, karena jauh lebih cepat dan bisa langsung dipakai dari halaman GMail], dan WordPress [mudah dipakai bikin situs, kreatif lagi].
Ke-100 aplikasi web terbaik ini ditetapkan berdasarkan voting 1,9 juta orang pengguna Internet, yang digelar CNet, salah satu media teknologi sekaligus toko online terbesar yang khusus menjual komputer, software, kamera digital, dll yang berkaitan dengan teknologi informasi. Awalnya terdapat 5 ribu web yang masuk nominasi, lalu disaring hingga tinggal 300. Dari ke-300 itulah para pengguna menentukan pilihannya.
Terdapat 10 kategori dengan masing-masing 10 pemenang. Sejumlah produk Google menang sekaligus pada beberapa kategori. WordPress — baik situs multi-usernya WordPress.com, maupun softwarenya seperti yang kupakai di Blog Berita ini — juga terpilih sebagai salah satu pemenang pada kategori publishing.

Firefox is a free, multiplatform browser. Its popularity is second only to Microsoft’s Internet Explorer among Web browsers, but unlike IE, it has open-source code.
